Hi:
So where does everyone get their lovely clothes from?? Specificly around the SF bay area. I know about mall stores like Lane Bryant & now the fun/funky Torrid, but what about more indipendant & more hip clothes for us big girls??? Thoughts? hints? ideas??
Thanx
Molly

Re: Fat-Tastic Fashions???
Sun, February 29, 2004 - 11:41 PMIn relation to that post, if there are fatties out there who are places other than SF, please also post about where you find fabulous clothes. I'm in Iowa and have trouble finding groovy looking, decent priced fattie wear...

Re: Fat-Tastic Fashions???
Mon, March 8, 2004 - 5:56 PMWell, I know a whole bunch of online stores & I'll post 'em here is anyone wants... But I was more hoping for as you put it "brick & mortar" stores, there's just something about checking things out before you buy them that makes it much more fun & also you can try stuff you know you wouldn't buy & sometimes that leads to new ideas...

Re: Fat-Tastic Fashions???
Sun, July 4, 2004 - 6:52 AMI get great clothes at California Big and Tall on Howard St in San Francisco. They are the outlet store where all of the clothes that did not sell at Rochester Big and Tall, their parent store. The clothes are always top quality and are usually marked down to 40 to 60% off the original price at Rochesters. (There's a store a few blocks away from California Big and Tall, I go there if I can't wait until the markdown next season.)
Before I found this store, I usually had to settle for bland clothes in less than optimal materials because that is all that the local fat men's clothing store carried. That phase of my life is long gone now that I've discovered Rochester's and its cheap-o cousin.
I love the service there too. I think it says a lot of positive things about a retail store when the exact same staff has been there for all 6 years you've been shopping there.
By the way, I know the topic was for "us big girls." However, I do know several women who've gotten clothes there too! -

Mon, August 30, 2004 - 8:30 PMI'm following you, Beebalalou :) I just joined this tribe.
Thanks, for the info on the California Big and Tall, Steve!!...my husband could really use a new place to shop--I usually just try to find him all of the 3x's at Ross that are halfway decent...but that's a pain!! -

Re: Fat-Tastic Fashions???
Mon, August 30, 2004 - 8:34 PMYou're welcome Anne. Last week I read that Rochester, the owner of California Big and Tall, was sold to Casual Male. I sure hope the high quality of CBT's clothes doesn't fall while the new owner takes over.
BTW, I just ordered some really lovely 3x linen shirts at the eddiebaueroutlet.com store. Eddie Bauer has been making some very nice big men's clothes for a while now. Their underwear is really top quality too! -
